2017 has been a good year for boxing already, and it’s about to get a whole lot better with one of the most relevant heavyweight bouts in years on deck for today.
On one side, the battle-tested veteran Wladimir Klitschko will be in the unfamiliar position of challenger as he looks to regain titles he lost to Tyson Fury and try to take one his opponent owns. On the other side, the young and hungry British fighter Anthony Joshua will look to fully arrive on the scene with the biggest win of his career.
Klitschko (64-4, 53 KO) and Joshua (18-0, 18 KO) will be battling for three titles - Joshua’s IBF title, and the vacant WBA (Super) and IBO heavyweight titles. Some 90,000 people are expected to attend the bout in London’s Wembley Stadium.
The fight will have a unique broadcast structure. It’s on PPV in the UK, where it is expected to draw huge numbers. In the United States the fight will air live on Showtime starting at 4:15pm ET, and will air later tonight in prime time on HBO on tape delay.

Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko
Round 1 - Here we go. Klitschko advancing early, pawing with the jab. Joshua with a nice right. They clinch. Joshua with a two-punch combo that lands glancingly. Klitschko working the jab but not connecting flush. Joshua lands a left hook to the body. Sneaky right hook. Klitschko with a jab that connects. Joshua jabbing too, and goes to the body again. Body/head from Joshua. Wladimir clinches briefly. 10-9 Joshua.
Round 2 - Klischko with a hard right out of the gate. Joshua with the jab. Another. Double jab and a straight right. Klitschko shoulder rolls to avoid danger. Not a lot happening. They trade jabs and Joshua doubles up on it again. Klitschko misses with a lead power shot. 10-9 Joshua.
Round 3 - Joshua with a lead right. Joshua wades in and Klitschko clinches. Joshua just misses with an uppercut. He's showing more aggression early, and forcing Klitschko to tie him up. Joshua with a double jab to the chest. Glancing left connects for the British fighter. Klitschko blocks a right hook. Step-in jab from Klitschko. Solid jab in response from Joshua. 10-9 Joshua.
Round 4 - Klitschko again opens the round with a hard right, and connects with another. Joshua cracks him back with his own right. Klitschko with a jab. The referee warns Joshua for a late punch on a clinch break. Joshua rips the body with a right hook. Counter right from Joshua. He throws a combo now, one of the few he has put together so far. Two jabs connect. Klitschko with a right hook that's blocked. Two body shots and a jab from AJ. He closes with another hard jab. 10-9 Joshua again.
Round 5 - Joshua with mad pressure early! Big uppercut and he's all over Klitschko! Body shots, power shots to the head! Klitschko desperately looking to clinch. He's down! He's up quickly. Klitschko is cut over his left eye. He's trying to fire back, and scored with a left hook. He's applying some pressure now! Joshua ducks a left hook. Klitschko with a hard left hook. Joshua with a huge right hook! Klitschko fires right back with a monster left hook! They're going to town! This is fun. Joshua looks a bit gassed. Two more big shots from Klitschko. Right uppercut, and a combo. All Wladimir down the stretch! I'll go 10-9 Joshua despite the knockdown.
Round 6 - Big right from Klitschko. He's just missing with hard left hooks. Joshua needs his mouthpiece replaced. A right drops Joshua! For the first time in his career! Holy hell! He's up, but looks lethargic. Klitschko with two more rights and he's walking Joshua down. Left hook, and a right hook. Just misses with two lefts. Joshua looks to clinch and gets pushed aside across the ring by the Ukranian. AJ trying to re-establish the jab. 10-8 Klitschko.
Round 7 - Joshua with a jab to the chest. Klitschko does he same. Double jab from Klitschko. Left hook. Joshua doing some talking, but he's tying him up as Klitschko advances on him. Good jab from AJ. Klitschko with his own. Hard straight right from Klitschko. Body shot and left hook to the head from Joshua. 10-9 Klitschko.
Round 8 - Slow start. Joshua jabbing. Klitschko not pressuring as much. Jabs from the big man. Now he's backing him up more and really pumping the jab. Joshua isn't doing much, but he finally landed a right hook. Hard jab from Klitschko, and Joshua responded in kind. They clinch up as Joshua landed to the body. Three jabs from Klitschko. Joshua backs him up with a right hook. 10-9 Klitschko.
Round 9 - Klitchko comes out firing two right hooks. Joshua landed two body shots when Klitschko attempted to clinch. They separate, immediately clinch, and AJ peppers him again. Long jab from Joshua. Klitschko with a hard jab. Clinch and body work again. Counter right hook from AJ. Nice jab from Klitschko. Hard right from Joshua! Left hook to the body from Joshua. Hard uppercut and two body shots. Klitschko with a nice step-in left hook. 10-9 Joshua.
Round 10 - Joshua charges out with a nice shot. Klitschko slips a straight right. Nice counter right from Joshua. Beautiful step-in combo from Joshua. Joshua looking to go back to the body but Klitschko is avoiding the shots now. Jab from Joshua, and he's warned again about late shots in the clinch. Wlad holding a bit more. Joshua avoids a couple of head shots. They clashed heads. Klitschko with a right cross. Very close round. 10-9 Joshua.
Round 11 - Klitschko with a big right and they clash heads again. Joshua with a huge right hook and a flurry! Klitschko weathers it! Straight left from Joshua. Short left hook as well. Huge uppercut! Klitschko is wobbled and the follow-up drops him! WOW! Klitschko is back up at 5 but he's in trouble! Huge straight right! Combo and he's down again! He's right back up again though! This is amazing. Joshua chasing him and throwing huge shots! He corners Klitschko and unloads. The ref steps in and it's over! Anthony Joshua has done it!
