2019: GROUP BAGS NORTH TO BACK IGBO PRESIDENCY
2019: GROUP BAGS NORTH
TO BACK IGBO PRESIDENCY

ABA – Ahead of the 2019 Presidential
poll, a pan Igbo group; Actualization for Igbo Presidency, has urged the
political stakeholders in the North to ensure that an Igbo man emerges
President of Nigeria, to enhance national cohesion.

Senator Chris Ngige during a meeting between South East Leaders led by the
Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and President Muhammadu Buhari
at the State House, Abuja. Photo by Abayomi Adeshida 13/10/2017 The group
insisted that the move had become necessary to address the marginalization of
Ndigbo in the power equation of the country.
In an interview with Vanguard in Aba,
Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, of the group, Chief John Kennedy Osuala, who
disclosed that the group had began consultation with eminent groups and
individuals across the federation to woo support for the project, urged Igbo
politicians to join leading political parties where they can seek nomination as
presidential candidates in 2019.
He lamented that Ndigbo have been rendered
second class citizens in a country where they are the major stakeholders and
enjoined the political stakeholders in the North and other sections of Nigeria
to support the Igbo presidency project.
“The North had been President for 46
years, South West- 12 years and South South- 6 years. It is unfair that the
South East was there for only 6 months. We are appealing to the North, South
South and South West to support a Nigerian from Igbo extraction to emerge
President in 2019.
Ndigbo can’t do it alone; it is a
clarion call to our brothers to show understanding in this project which will
enhance national unity. “Political leaders in Igbo land must sit up if we are
to actualize our dream to produce a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in
2019. They should understand that power is not given on a platter of gold but
sought for.
Igbo presidency in 2019 is achievable
only if we play our cards well. Other Nigerians are looking up to us to get our
acts together. This is our time, we must take the bull by the horn.”
