ARSENAL STAR AGREES TERMS ON LONG-TERM DEAL, SET
TO COMPLETE WITHIN 24 HOURS – REPORT
Arsenal
midfielder Francis Coquelin has agreed personal terms with Spanish giants
Valencia, and a fee is to be agreed within 24-hours, according to a report.
French
media outlet RMC
Sports report that the Frenchman has agreed a deal that will keep him
in Spain for four-and-a-half years, ending a 10-year association with Arsenal.
Coquelin
has struggled to find regular football this season, only appearing 13 times for
the Gunners, as Wenger has an abundance of enforcing midfielders to work with.
It
had been reported that a host of Premier League clubs had been
interested in signing Coquelin, but Arsene Wenger had preferred to sell to
Spain as so that he would not have the chance to play against Arsenal.
Football
Insider verdict:
Francis
Conquelin made a name for himself in the Arsenal midfield during the season
that the Gunners finished second, as a combative and hard working player.
Selling the Frenchman has ended a 10 year association with the Club, where the
26-year-old has amassed over 100 appearances. However, Coquelin has been forced
out of the first team by consistent play from other Arsenal midfielders. Should
Valencia agree a fee for the Frenchman, he would be open to a lot more
first-team opportunities which is what he desires. Gunners fans will wish him
all the best, he’s been a loyal servant to the Emirates.
In
other Arsenal transfer news, it
has been reported that the Gunners are ready to trigger the release clause for
this Argentine star.
