Topic: When God Shows Mercy [DCLM Daily Manna 4 June 2019 Daily Devotional by Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Ezekiel 16:53-63 (KJV)
Key Verse: “That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified towards thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD” (Ezekiel 16:63).
MESSAGE:
Remorse and shame follow conviction for a wrongdoing, with grave consequences in some cases. Some offenders are often under the illusion that they never could be caught. But the long arm of the law always reaches them for justice.
The nation of Judah ad exposed themselves to all forms of sins and atrocities. Even when God sent several warnings to them, they ignored Him and despised His mercy. God had to eventually visit them with severe punishment like He said He would. They were scattered from their land, taken away in in captivity to exile and were greatly afflicted. The text captures god’s promise to show them mercy and bring them back from captivity. The affliction had served its purpose and God was going to show them mercy.
When God shows us mercy and rescues us from the looming judgment hanging over us as a result of our sins, it is to show us how helpless and weak we are without Him. Indeed, every sinner is helpless in himself without God. We have nothing to boast about in our salvation. When this becomes the case, we will become eternally grateful to God to whom alone we owe the new lease of life and liberty we now enjoy. We must firmly resolve never to go back to those past sins.
Whatever our standing is today as Christians, we must constantly remember that we were hopeless sinners meant to die but rescued by grace. With this attitude, we will have no reason to despise and deride those who presently wallow in sin; but will rather be moved with pity and concern to have them come to receive God’s mercy and pardon through grace and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thought For The Day: His mercy is still available.
