Serving With A Perfect Heart by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Serving With A Perfect Heart
“And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.” – 2 Chronicles 25:2
Have you ever wondered how king Amaziah did what was right before God, but not with a perfect heart? I have! Whenever I read this chapter in the Bible, I often wonder how he could be right in all his dealings as a king, rendering his kingly services according to all that the Lord commanded them, and his heart still was not right with God.
This shows that oftentimes, it is not what you do that matters most, but your connectivity, motive and attitude towards your service to God. There are times when you see people render Kingdom services or help to someone and you feel that person does what he or she is doing so perfectly, and you even tend to compare yourself, wishing you could be more like that person. You may even wonder why those people have not received visible rewards with all the energy, time and effort they put into service. I have come to realise that most of the time it is not in all the busyness, but the state of your mind or heart.
Service to God is essentially a matter of the heart. When your thoughts, intentions and motives are right, then only does your service become acceptable. There are people that render lip or eye service. They tend to be very energetic around others, but when those watchful eyes are gone, they revert to their “true” selves. Some have a habit of complaining and even tend to curse in their heart. Yes, they might be doing what is right but because their hearts are not right, it may not count for them as a quality service unto God.
Today, I want you to turn a new leaf, and re-examine your heart towards the service of God. However, as you seek to serve God in all areas of your life, make your service right in the sight of God by engaging a perfect heart: one void of complains, vain compliments, eye service, vain rewards, or fame. Commit the Holy Spirit to help you achieve your desire for a perfect service and as you do, your rewards will not elude you in Jesus name.
For you to render an acceptable service to God, you have to build a stable relationship with Him, seek to make Jesus the Lord over the affairs of your life and accept Him as the Saviour of your life. If you have made this decision say this prayer with me in faith:
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.
Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).
