The Daily Fountain Daily Devotional of the Church Of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) 5 February 2020 – Sealed With The Holy Spirit
TOPIC: Sealed With The Holy Spirit
READ: EPHESIANS 1:11-14 (NKJV)
11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
13 In Him you also [trusted,] after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
THE MESSAGE:
Yesterday we meditated on the spiritual blessings that are ours when we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Let us consider another great promise we received in Christ – the Holy Spirit. When Christ was about to leave this world, He made a promise to believers that He would send the Holy Spirit to help us and be our Comforter (John 16:7-9).
In our meditation today, we also see the Holy Spirit as a seal (mark, stamp) that God has made on those that receive Christ. He is a deposit (guarantee, down payment) that God has made on behalf of believers that all these spiritual blessings would surely be ours at the resurrection (verse 14). Remember these blessings were bought for us by the blood of Jesus Christ to the glory of God. This is a great consolation to all believers. No matter what you are passing through, do not be discouraged. God is working out His purpose for us. It will surely be well in Christ!
PRAYER: Thank You Lord Jesus for great and exceeding promises You have made to us, Amen.
