Being a celebrity in these days of social media is a curse – Comedian, Okey Bakassi

Being a celebrity in these days of social media is a curse – Comedian, Okey Bakassi
Nigerian stand-up comedian, Okechukwu
Anthony Onyegbule, popularly known as
Okey Bakassi has spoken about the sad
realities of being a celebrity.
Bakassi who wrote on his instagram
page @okeybakassi complained of how
the social media has become an avenue
for many critics to lash out at celebrities,
having no respect for their privacy.
In his post, he said: “It comes with a lot
of curse, you lose your privacy, and until
you lose your privacy, you won’t know
how much it means to you.
“Celebrities don’t have a life that is theirs;
everybody feels that entitlement to barge
into your personal space.
“It’s really an expensive curse to bear
honestly.
“When you are on this side of the boat,
there are a lot of things you could just do
everyday but you just make efforts to be
normal.
“I’m sure if you ask the average
celebrities, in these days of social media,
it’s just too much, it’s as if when social
media came, we lost respects and our
values.
“It’s so painful when people go on social
media insult their elders, people that if
you had the opportunity to meet one on
one, you wouldn’t do it.
“People hide under the cover of
anonymity to do these things.
“ It’s not good, neither who we are
culturally, but then again when your life
has become public, people feel they are
entitle to barge into your space.
“That’s one curse that comes with it.”
