Your Role as a Mother to Your Children! (3) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo
Topic: Your Role As A Mother To Your Children! (3)
Dear Reader,
I am happy to be with you today as we
unfold the mysteries in God’s Word
again. Last week, I talked on a special
feature –Time Investment, which
mothers need to cultivate in order to
accomplish their God-ordained roles to
their children.
This week, I will be unveiling to you,
mothers, two main keys needed to
effectively carry out your role to your
children:
The first key is The Word of God! It is
your responsibility to impart the light of
God’s Word into your children. For the
Bible says: Thy word is a lamp unto my
feet, and a light unto my path (Psalm
119:105). Once light gains access into
your children, no matter where they find
themselves on earth, it becomes
impossible for darkness to overcome
them. When the light shines in them,
they will become masters over
darkness.
God’s Word says: wherewithal shall a
young man cleanse his way? by taking
heed thereto according to thy Word
(Palm 119:9). Therefore, spend time in
teaching your children the Word of God.
If they are too small to read, you can
read to their hearing. You can also use
picture books, drama, etc. Do whatever
is within your power to sow the good
seed of God’s Word in them. Invest in
good Bibles, Christian Literatures, audio
and video tapes. What you’re doing is
nurturing them in the way of the Lord.
By so doing, you are sowing a good
seed that will bring in tremendous
harvest tomorrow.
The second key is Love and Control!
These are two essential ingredients
needed by mothers to accomplish their
responsibility to their children. Every
child wants and needs to be loved. But
at the same time and of equal
importance is the need for control. By
control, I don’t mean turning your child
to a puppet. What I mean is being able
to restrain them and put a check to
certain excesses in their lives by
enforcing discipline.
Love and control go hand in hand in
producing godly children. Express
generosity to your children in words of
praise and actions. Let your children be
assured of your love; that way, it will be
easy to control them. A child that you do
not love, you will not be able to control;
and a child that you do not control, you
cannot claim to love.
If you are not yet born again, to
successfully play your role to your
children would be a great challenge.
Therefore, if you would like to be born
again, please pray this simple prayer of
faith: “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to
You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of
my sins and cleanse me with Your
Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to
serve the living God. I accept You as my
Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of
God today. Thank You for accepting me
into Your Kingdom.”
If you prayed this simple prayer, you are
now a child of God. He loves you and
will never leave you. Read your Bible
daily, obey God’s Word and seek
Christian fellowship (John 14:21).
Congratulations! You are now born
again! All-round rest and peace are
guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or
